Typhoon Haiyan

As tempting as it is to rant about the inefficiency of the government and their outright corruption in the face of a calamity, I’d rather not waste my time or yours.

To my handful of blog followers, I want to say thank you for deeming my blog worthy to be read and followed. I’d like to take this time to let you know, in case you didn’t yet, about the condition of the Philippines. A week ago, a super typhoon, Haiyan (or Yolanda) struck and ravaged numerous towns and islands mostly in central Philippines – Visayas.

We are absolutely thankful for all the help coming from all over the world. To the different organizations, individuals, and anonymous entities who are wholeheartedly, and without hesitation, giving all that they can give, may the Lord bless you a hundredfold.

I hope you all understand that whatever help you give, be it raising awareness, sending donations in kind and in cash, or even simply sympathizing, goes a long way.

Please pray with us for the restoration of the country, as well as the cleansing of the Philippines from the corruption and evil that manifests itself even in the midst of disaster. There is chaos even in the most still of waters. I didn’t want to be the pessimist, but the truth has to be told.

Please make sure, that if you donate, be accountable for it until it reaches where it is supposed to. Track the donations if possible, because you wouldn’t want it going into the wrong hands.

It’s such a shame to know that there are many corrupt people who use these donations for their personal motives, absolutely indifferent to the people who need it the most, and shameless towards the donors.

We hope it does not discourage you from giving, because as you can still see, Tacloban and many other parts of the Philippines are badly in need.
