Thankful For

“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.” – Marcus Aurelius

Today I learned to be thankful:

Thankful to have had a hearty breakfast with warm company.

Thankful to have avoided a possible pickpocket situation in public transportation.

Thankful to have seen my friends today at school, who have helped me in more ways than one.

Thankful to have gotten home in time for my next appointment.

Thankful that I did not get rained on.

Thankful for the little talks I always wish to have with my sister.

Thankful for past lessons on patience and understanding, which helped today.

Thankful for nice people who exist.

Thankful that there are solutions.

Thankful for consolations to failed attempts – the existence of “try again tomorrow.”

I guess you could say I prayed for today to be a good day, which was a quite a vague prayer. But you know what? It was indeed a good day. The only way good days happen is when you mix a little bit of your faith with a lot of positive thinking. To brush aside every doubt, of things that could go wrong, needs to be in place for a good day to thrive.

I will never overlook any small moment anymore. Lighting never strikes twice in the same place, so you’d do well to catch it with a metal rod. In essence, I have learned that every opportunity to connect is vital. Although my voice still gets stuck in my throat, I’ve found my voice, and I’ve found that there is a certain excitement in continuing what you’ve started to share – even if it was simply about your successful evasion from the rain, or how you received such unexpected good news. The beautiful thing is that someone will always be willing to listen to you, and I am absolutely thankful for that.

The last thing I am thankful for today is that I have been found reliable. Never mind that I am in the middle of my free time, if you’re in dire need of anything at all, I will not hesitate to sprint a half-minute distance. I am thankful that what makes me happy and fulfilled is helping people out – as cliche as it may sound.

  1. This is absolutely beautiful! This one is my favorite: Thankful for consolations to failed attempts – the existence of “try again tomorrow.”

You seem to have a really sweet spirit about you. I love that, its rare. Please never change the core of who you are- no matter how much opposition you may get. You are destined for great things. Keep shining!

    1. Hi Heather, it means a lot for you to say that. I appreciate it! Things have been tough, but I’ve seen the other side of the fence enough to be this optimistic. I hope I’ve done enough to encourage, if not convince, you likewise. Thank you very much!
